In various types of industrial production sites, temperature measurement points are distributed the most. Some of the application scenarios are concentrated in a small range of measurement points, such as multi-point temperature measurement in reaction towers, heat exchange towers, storage tanks, coking ovens, etc. In addition, there are also applications in the safety monitoring of moving equipment where there are many and concentrated measurement points for shaft temperature and coil temperature.
1. Relative advantages of multi-channel temperature transmitters
In the above multi-point temperature measurement scenario, if each measurement point is configured with a single-channel temperature transmitter, each temperature transmitter outputs a standard signal, and the number of communication cables leading to the collection center is the same as the number of measurement points.
When using a multi-channel temperature transmitter, multiple temperature sensors are concentrated into the multi-channel temperature transmitter, and the multi-channel temperature transmitter sends the temperature measurement value and status information to the collection center with standard signals. The number of communication cables from the collection center to the site will be greatly reduced, and the corresponding purchase costs for cables and bridges, early laying projects, and later maintenance costs will be significantly reduced.
2. Application examples
The temperature of the materials stored in the storage tank is stratified, and the materials in different layers have different temperatures. A protective tube is inserted into the storage tank, and multiple temperature sensors are embedded in the protective tube from bottom to top, which can measure the temperature of multiple layered materials. Use a multi-channel temperature transmitter to connect multiple sensors, and use a set of communication cables to send the temperature values and status information of multiple measuring points to the collection center.
Tower reactors and tower heat exchangers have the same temperature stratification. Multiple temperature sensors can be distributed on the tower body and the sensor leads can be concentrated into a multi-channel temperature transmitter.
2. Multi-channel temperature transmitter
A variety of digital communication protocols can be used from the temperature transmitter to the data acquisition device, requiring different numbers of cables. When using bus power supply protocols such as PROFIBUS PA and FF H1 protocol, only one pair of cables is required. When using a protocol based on the RS-485 physical layer or other protocols that do not have a bus supply, additional power lines must be laid for the temperature transmitter.
